Social Media Post Specifications

Part of any content marketing strategy includes social media. Are you making the most of your social properties by incorporating both regular posts and paid advertising into your feeds? When designing a post or advertisement, it’s important to remember the specifics for each platform! Designing a post for Facebook will be different than designing one for Twitter for example. Here’s a quick guide of social media post specifications. It’s a quick guide for designing posts and adverts for different social media sites. I’ve included some posts from our clients here at RAVEN5 to give you an idea of what they look like.

Non-Paid Post Specifications

1. Twitter

  • Size (width by height): 600 X 335 pixels
  • Text: 280 characters (including links)

2. Facebook

Depending on the orientation:

  • Portrait: 476 x 714 pixels (3:2 ratio)
  • Landscape: 316 x 476 pixels
  • Square: 476 x 476 pixels
  • Text: 63,206 characters

3. Instagram

  • Size: 600 x 600 (minimum) pixels
  • Text: 2,200 characters (but no live links)

Paid Post Specifications

1. Twitter

  • Size: 800 x 418 (1.91:1 ratio) pixels OR 800 x 800 (1:1 ratio) pixels
  • Text: Title – 70 characters, Tweet – 280 characters max.

2. Facebook

  • Size: 1,200 x 628 pixels
  • Text: Post – 90 characters, Headline – 25 characters, Link description – 30 characters

3. Instagram

  • Size: 500 x Variable Height pixels
  • Text: 2,200 characters (but no live links), and up to 30 hashtags

Of course, the above post specifications can guide your design, but it’s recommended that you keep your posts are short and concise.
