7 tips that will help you become an Amazing Writer
You’re sitting at your desk racking your brain on how to start your piece of writing. You go through numerous thoughts trying to storm up the perfect idea to open your piece of writing. Why can’t it be five already? At least then you wouldn’t have to worry about writing this until tomorrow. Instead, it’s 2 pm and the article is due by the end of the day. You go into panic mode and suddenly your whole mood shifts from puzzled to postal and you’re desperate for a good idea. Good thing you’re reading my blog right now or you’d be ‘SOL’ my fellow writer.
For the past month or so I have been practicing my writing skills and have been exploring the PR daily website every day for new information and helpful tips that will aid me in becoming a better writer. I recently came across an article titled “7 tips for better PR writing”.
Here are some helpful tips that can help any writer become an amazing writer for writing PR:
- Cut the coffee: Sometimes it is helpful not to get yourself over-stimulated on coffee. It helps to relax your writing and make it more conversational, rather than stiff and formal. Maybe even try cracking open a bottle of Crown Royal to get you loose. I’m joking, don’t actually do that, you might lose your job.
- Ditch your desk: When I think of sitting a lot of times at my desk I lack inspiration and it holds me back. When you get out into the world it helps to open up your mind to endless possibilities that don’t limit your creativity. Sometimes overhearing whispers from other people’s conversations give you some ideas, but that is also really rude so don’t make it obvious you’re trying to scope out their conversation.
- Lean Back: Fat Joe said it best people, lean back, lean back. Little did he know that posture actually makes a huge difference in how you think and feel. I also find that when I’m writing with a good posture I think more clearly and am able to think straight and communicate a clear thought.
- Peek at photos: it’s pretty odd, right? Honestly, though, I love looking at hilarious pictures on the Internet. It makes you think if this is acceptable than whatever I write has to be God damned genius!
- Get off your phone: Don’t click on that new inbox message, notification or text, you’ll be asking yourself where the time went and it will only hurt your writing in the process.
- Clear a chunk of time: For me, blocking off a couple of hours or even a full morning to write a blog helps me lose myself in my writing. You become so inspired to write you will write until your hand cannot write anymore.
- Make conversation. When I write my blogs in the morning I like to think that I am having a conversation with my audience. I always want to write something that people will enjoy reading even if this is not something that is interesting to them, but hopefully makes them smile.
Let’s make a conversation, because I want to become an amazing writer. Did this help you in your writing? What helps you when you’re in a writing funk?
