Blogs > Sweepstakes Campaign Metrics not Typical
August 28, 2025 Jing Yu
When clients ask us about the “typical range” of performance for sweepstakes, contests, or user-generated content programs, our honest answer is simple: there’s no such thing as standard benchmarks.
Unlike other areas of digital marketing, campaign performance in this space depends almost entirely on audience size, tactics, and spend.
Every Campaign Is Different
When you run a campaign of this size, results are shaped by many factors, including:
• Email list size and quality – open rates, deliverability, and past engagement matter.
• Social media audiences – reach and follower demographics impact amplification.
• Website traffic – a program running on a high-traffic site performs very differently from one on a niche microsite.
• Marketing spend – advertising and paid social promotion can drastically increase entries.
• Engagement metrics – email open rates, click-through rates, and social sharing behavior vary widely.
Because each of these elements is unique to your business and your audience, no two campaigns are ever alike.
The Only True Comparisons
The only time we can meaningfully compare results is with recurring programs that run annually. That’s when year-over-year insights start to emerge. You can measure which tactics improved engagement, which creative assets resonated, and how amplification channels influenced results.
Outside of that, comparing one program to another—especially across different industries or audiences—is misleading.
Engagement Rates: Context Is Everything
Engagement rates, entry volumes, and amplification results are contextual metrics. They are only meaningful when compared against campaigns with:
• Similar audiences
• Similar marketing spends
• Similar amplification tactics
Otherwise, numbers alone don’t tell the full story.

Reporting & Analytics
Clear reporting is critical for understanding campaign performance. Platforms like Google Analytics provide a wealth of insights into audience behavior, traffic sources, and user actions. We explore this in detail here:

Each one highlights different industries, audiences, and tactics, showing just how varied results can be — and why there is no “standard” range.
Final Word
Every sweepstakes or contest campaign is a custom experience shaped by your audience, budget, and engagement strategy. While there are no universal benchmarks, there are always opportunities to measure success against your own past campaigns, and to refine tactics year over year.
At Raven5, we help brands design, amplify, and measure campaigns in ways that make sense for their unique audiences. Because when it comes to contests, the only standard is that no two campaigns are ever the same.
