Contest Marketing - Lead Generation

Contest Marketing – Lead Generation

December 12, 2014 Michael Bickerton

I came across a nice little infographic from Wishpond and thought that I would share the stats with you, as I found some of them impactful and insightful. Wikipedia states “In marketing, lead generation is the generation of consumer interest or inquiry into products or services of a business.” Here is the full description. Contest marketing is a fast, simple, effective and inexpensive method of providing all levels of lead generation. Contest marketing will provide the following:

  • Email addresses
  • Demographics & location information
  • Branding & Awareness
  • Data (as much as you wish)
  • Coupons (purchase intent)

Given that a prize is generally used to engage your prospects, customers and social followers, you also get a lasting favourable impression (everybody likes FREE stuff). Contest marketing at Raven5 also includes and utilizes social media and here are some eye opening stats that will have you consider using a contest as your primary lead generation tool.

  • Facebook 77% of B2C marketers acquired a new customer
  • Facebook accounts for 26% of social traffic to website
  • Twitter accounts for 3.6% of social traffic to website
  • Twitter 34% have generated leads
  • Twitter 20% have closed deals (read this as a real sale)
  • LinkedIn marketers indicate that it is 2.7 times more effective than Facebook
  • LinkedIn B2B marketers indicate that 77% have acquired a customer
  • Overall 84% of marketers indicate using some level of social for acquisition
  • Overall 77% of buyers say they are more likely to buy from a company who’s CEO is engaged on social.

We’ve come a long way in the use of social media and in B2B or B2C – social is a critical segment of lead generation, as such contest marketing is a critical tactic for marketers today.
